Walmart Recall Alert: Stop Using Ozark Trail Stoves Now, Safety Steps

Walmart has initiated a significant product recall affecting over 225,000 units across two separate product lines following safety hazard warnings issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The recalled items present substantial risks ranging from fire hazards and burn injuries to inadequate head protection, prompting urgent action from federal regulators and the retail giant.

The most critical of the two recalls involves approximately 201,000 Ozark Trail Tabletop 1-Burner Butane Camping Stoves, which pose immediate fire and burn hazards due to explosion risks. Manufactured by China Window Industry Co., Ltd., a Taiwan-based producer, these dark green stoves bearing model number BG2247A1 were sold throughout Walmart locations nationwide and on Walmart.com between March 2023 and October 2025 at prices ranging from $8 to $45.

The CPSC has documented 26 reported incidents of the stoves exploding or catching fire, with 16 of these incidents resulting in injuries, including second-degree burns suffered by consumers.

A parallel recall affects approximately 24,300 Outdoor Master children's and youth bicycle helmets that failed to comply with mandatory safety standards. These helmets, which lack adequate positional stability and proper head protection coverage, were sold online through both Walmart.com and Amazon.com from June 2024 through February 2025 at prices between $20 and $32.

Two specific models are covered under this recall: the OM-TD BIKE, a blue helmet featuring a dinosaur design with black padding and straps, sold in children's size small; and the OM-KSKB, a deep green model with yellow straps and black padding, offered in youth size small.

Regarding the butane stoves, the CPSC classification indicates these products can fail to protect users adequately during accidents, potentially resulting in severe head injuries or fatalities in extreme cases.

Although no injuries have yet been reported in connection with the helmets specifically, Walmart has confirmed that these helmets have not been available for purchase since February 2025.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled Ozark Trail camping stoves must immediately discontinue use and return the items to any Walmart retail location for a complete refund. The recall carries identification number 26-120 for reference purposes.

Customers holding the recalled Outdoor Master helmets are instructed to stop using them and contact the manufacturer, Outdoor Master, directly for refund registration instructions. The helmet recall reference number is 26-122.

For additional details regarding either recall, customers may visit Walmart's official recall page or contact Walmart Customer Service at 800-925-6278, available from 7 a.m. through 9 p.m.

Central Time. Consumers may also reach Outdoor Master through the company's website at careoutdoormaster.com or through its dedicated recall website for helmet-specific inquiries.

These recalls represent part of broader regulatory efforts by the CPSC to identify and remove potentially dangerous products from the consumer marketplace, particularly those posing risks of serious injury or fatality.
